A transient thermal creep model for concrete

A constitutive model for concrete subject to transient temperatures is proposed. A thermalmechanical strain component is included that is irreversible and only occurs during first heating of concrete under load. The model also includes thermal damage and temperature dependent coefficient of free thermal strain. The proposed model is applied to a number of illustrative examples that demonstrate its predictive capability. The proposed model may be easily incorporated into existing thermal-mechanical analysis frameworks.

Abstract

A constitutive model for concrete subject to transient temperatures is proposed. A thermalmechanical strain component is included that is irreversible and only occurs during first heating of concrete under load. The model also includes thermal damage and temperature dependent coefficient of free thermal strain. The proposed model is applied to a number of illustrative examples that demonstrate its predictive capability. The proposed model may be easily incorporated into existing thermal-mechanical analysis frameworks.
