A rare case of Intracerebral Haemorrhage in a patient with Immune thrombocytopaenia
Background: Spontaneous Intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) is a rare and severe complication of immune thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP). ITP causes a significant decrease in platelet levels, increasing bleeding risk. Case Presentation: We present a case of a 30 year old female who presented with multiple intracranial haemorrhages in the setting of immune thrombocytopaenia. She was managed conservatively for the intracranial haemorrhages, transfused with platelets. Thrombocytopaenia was not responsible to steroids but later on improved on Rituximab. Conclusion: Intracranial haemorrhage is a rare complication of immune thrombocytopenia Aggressive treatment of ITP is required in patient with critical bleeding from severe thrombocyopaenia. Neurosurgical intervention maybe appropriate in select cases.
