The ling sound test as a method of initial stimulation of oral language in patients with hearing impairments

Hearing loss can affect oral language development; therefore, implementing auditory stimulation strategies is important. This observational, descriptive, cross-sectional study analyzed the utility of the Ling sounds and the knowledge regarding their application among Human Communication Therapy students. Of the 24 students surveyed, 22 were familiar with auditory-verbal therapy, while two were not. Although a favorable perception of their utility was observed, specific knowledge regarding the Ling sounds was found to be more limited. The study concludes that they constitute a useful tool for auditory monitoring and the initial stimulation of oral language in patients with hearing loss.
