Stakeholder-informed use cases and target product characteristics for vaccines and therapeutics for Nipah virus disease

Nipah virus (NiV) is a deadly zoonotic pathogen with potential for severe outbreaks. We convened a multi-stakeholder expert consultation to define potential implementation strategies and use cases for NiV countermeasures across hypothetical outbreak scenarios and conditions. Participants identified distinct roles for vaccines, monoclonal antibodies (mAbs), and small-molecule therapeutics (SMTs) for prevention, post-exposure protection, and treatment. These stakeholder-informed outputs are intended to inform product development, target product profiles, and equitable access during future outbreaks.
