Ps-AI-chology: A Conceptual Framework for the Psychology of Artificial Intelligence

This conceptual article develops "Ps-AI-chology", a framework for studying the psychology of artificial intelligence at the intersection of cognitive, social and clinical psychology, computer science and philosophy of mind. It organises the topic along three axes: (1) algorithmic mediation of attention, choice and judgment, (2) machine detection and simulation of emotion, and (3) the societal and ethical balance between benefits and risks. It distinguishes prediction from experience, influence from manipulation, and assistance from dependence, proposes a four-criterion gradient of autonomy, and offers principles for intentional engagement with AI addressed to individuals, educators and designers, together with an agenda for empirical research. The work is a literature-informed conceptual synthesis and reports no original empirical data.
