Culture Change in Ten Minutes: Creating Space for Practice to Emerge
Practices and norms are embedded in the way that research works. Trust, sharing, recognition - these are all built on the way that we choose to do things together. So, how can we change culture in research? In this talk, I’ll draw on my experiences running the Institute of Research Software (previously the Software Sustainability Institute) to give you a set of practical tips and examples for building community, working in partnership, and shaping the future. Along the way, they’ll also be time to discuss the challenges, as well as the successes, and how you go from a good idea to a lasting impact. This talk was presented at the NetDRIVE Autumn Gathering 2026.
