A Teoria das Virtudes em Maquiavel: considerações a partir da dialética governante-povo
The possibility of a theory of virtues in Machiavelli is addressed, in an original way, from the work "O Mínimo sobre Maquiavel", by Railson Barboza. The literature that supports such a possibility maintains that the Florentine author, when discussing how the ruler should act in the conquest and maintenance of power, develops a theory of virtues, that is, a thesis that privileges virtues considered practical and necessary to the daily life of the ruler. Thus, such virtues are found in Machiavellian literature precisely when they address issues and decisions to be made. However, it should not be confused with the theme of Machiavellian virtue. To develop theoretically and support such a hypothesis, the study on the chapter dedicated to the topic is deepened in the book "The Minimum about Machiavel", clearly quoting and developing the five virtues: courage, justice, prudence, wisdom and strength.
