Interação entre estresse térmico e benzofenona-3 em Seriatopora caliendrum: respostas bioquímicas e celulares

Coral reefs are threatened by rising ocean temperatures and emerging contaminants such as the UV filter benzophenone-3 (BP-3). This study evaluated the effects of chronic exposure (96h) to 50% EC50-96h for BP-3 (2 mg/L) combined with thermal stress (26 and 30 °C) on biomarkers in Seriatopora caliendrum: lipid peroxidation (TBARS), DNA damage, and lysosomal membrane stability. Temperature affected lipid peroxidation, and lysosomal stability was affected by temperature, BP-3, and their interaction (p<0.001), indicating synergism. No effect was found on DNA. Lysosomal stability proved to be an early, sensitive biomarker of combined stress, reinforcing concerns about cumulative risks under global warming scenarios.

Lysosomal stability proved to be an early, sensitive biomarker of combined stress, reinforcing concerns about cumulative risks under global warming scenarios.
