The Impact of Quality Management Implementation on the Efficiency of Warehousing and Distribution Operations in Land Transport Companies: A Field Study

This study aimed to investigate the impact of implementing Quality Management (QM) in its various dimensions (top management commitment, continuous improvement, employee engagement, and customer focus) on the efficiency of storage and distribution operations in land transport companies in Basra Governorate. The study employed a descriptive-analytical approach. The population consisted of employees from three land transport companies in Basra, and the sample comprised 150 individuals selected using stratified random sampling. A questionnaire was used as the data collection instrument after verifying its validity and reliability, with Cronbach's alpha coefficient for the instrument as a whole reaching 0.928. Data were analyzed using the SPSS package, employing arithmetic means, standard deviations, Pearson correlation coefficient, and multiple and simple regression analysis. The study yielded several key findings, most notably that the level of QM implementation was high, with an average of 3.86, led by the customer focus dimension. The efficiency of storage and distribution operations was also found to be high, with an average of 3.79. The study also revealed a statistically significant positive correlation between the two variables and demonstrated a significant impact of the combined dimensions of quality management on the efficiency of storage and distribution operations. These dimensions explained 65.9% of the variance in the dependent variable, with the continuous improvement dimension showing the greatest influence. The study recommended several measures, most notably strengthening the performance measurement system through specific quantitative indicators, addressing the inefficiencies in storage space utilization by redesigning warehouses and implementing modern management systems, investing in continuous improvement as the most effective factor in efficiency, and enhancing employee participation through training and expanded authority.
