MINIMALLY INVASIVE APPROACHES IN THE SURGICAL MANAGEMENT OF COMPLICATED HEPATIC ECHINOCOCCOSIS
The choice of surgical access in complicated hepatic echinococcosis is influenced by cyst size, number and seg-mental location, as well as by suppuration, cystobiliary communication and other associated complications. A uni-form approach may result in unnecessary surgical trauma in some patients, while an overly limited access may compromise adequate control of the parasitic focus in others.
