Qualidade das águas residuais na Centralidade da Praia Amélia em Moçâmedes, Angola

The study conducted a preliminary assessment of wastewater quality at the Praia Amélia housing complex in Moçâmedes, Angola, aiming to contribute to its sustainable management. In May 2025, samples were collected from four locations, including the wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) outlet, the receiving watercourse, and the marine area. The results indicated changes in water quality, notably high levels of alkalinity, dissolved solids, and nutrients, as well as the presence of coliforms. The alkalinity may be linked to detergent input. Although coliform and nutrient levels were lower than those recorded in other contaminated areas, the results point to potential environmental and public health impacts. Continuous monitoring is recommended to evaluate treatment efficiency and its effects on the marine environment.
