Racismo e sexismo estruturais no Brasil

In this text, my aim is to understand the forms of racism and sexism that structure social relations in Brazil. I begin with Iris Young’s definition of oppression as a relational structure grounded in Foucault’s concept of the dispositif of power. Next, since such oppressions are structural in Brazil, I intend to show that this definition aligns perfectly with what Sueli Carneiro, inspired by Foucault, termed the “dispositif of raciality,” conferring a structural character on racism. Finally, if, following Lélia Gonzalez and Sueli Carneiro, it becomes evident that racism and sexism, together with class oppression, are structural and operate according to the capitalist logic of the oppression/exploitation feedback loop, based on this, I was able to propose the following hypothesis: if racism is a device of power, what sustains it would be what Gonzalez termed the mechanism of denial.
