Online appendix 2 to the review "Network effects in the management of higher education export": synthesis framework and the "mechanism × level" framework
Online appendix 2 to the structured narrative review by K.V. Khobta, S.S. Bykov and Xia Shuang "Network effects in the management of higher education export: from theory and country-level models to the university as a platform" (submitted to the Russian Management Journal). The file «Онлайн-приложение 2_рамка синтеза.docx» contains:— Table П1. Elements of network effects theory (E1–E11) and appraisal criteria for applied studies (K1 — functional form of the relationship between network size and value; K2 — identification of the effect) that form the synthesis framework, with the original sources and reviews for each element, the rule for including elements, coding rules and the results of the secondary analysis of concepts outside the framework.— Table П2. The "mechanism × level" framework: indicators and expected manifestations of the direct, indirect extensive, indirect intensive and platform effects at four functional levels of an international student's integration (study group, dormitory, university, city). The table presents a hypothesis to be tested empirically, not a result of the review. The coding of the applied studies against this framework is published in Online appendix 1 (DOI: 10.5281/zenodo.23639006). Synthesis follows the logic of best fit framework synthesis (Carroll et al., 2011, 2013). The text is in Russian.
