Os Impactos Hídricos de Datas Center de Inteligência Artificial: Dicotomia entre Sustentabilidade e Proteção Ambiental

This study's central objective is to analyze the environmental impacts of using potable water resources to cool artificial intelligence data centers. This is because water is scarce and vital to terrestrial life. The research problem questions the effects of this technology on water resources. The methodology is deductive, based on a bibliographic review. The results indicate high energy consumption, carbon emissions, and the need for thousands of liters of water for cooling; untreated seawater corrodes equipment, and installations in cold or maritime environments harm local biota. It is concluded, in a preliminary analysis, that seawater desalination may be a more sustainable path for cooling, balancing technological advancement and environmental preservation.
