Mosquitoes on Wheels, Humanity's Counter to Mosquitoes

Mosquitoes are annoyingly good at showing up. This project explores how to make mosquito control just as reliable. Mosquitoes on Wheels proposes a delivery network for the sterile insect technique: shared production laboratories, portable handling hubs and small vehicles carrying release containers with independently opening compartments. The goal is to keep sterile males reaching treatment areas without requiring a fully equipped laboratory in every district. The paper works through the practical questions. How much production capacity would we need? How many vehicles? How far could a laboratory serve? And when would several smaller facilities make more sense than one giant one? Using clearly stated assumptions, it calculates example requirements and explores possible applications in Lebanon and selected African and European settings. The aim is a system that is easier to operate, maintain and afford. This is a conceptual modelling study. The device has not yet been built or field-tested, and the calculations are planning examples. It gives the idea a starting design, a set of numbers and a path towards testing. Because even a mosquito-control programme needs a decent delivery schedule.
