The potential of blog technology and digital platforms in developing English-language writing competence
The didactic potential of utilising ICTs in English language instruction is examined in this paper. The study's importance stems from the expanding role of digital technologies in today's classroom and the necessity of improving the efficiency of students' English-language communicative competence development, particularly in writing. The incorporation of cutting-edge digital platforms and Internet resources is especially crucial in the context of the informatisation of education, as it helps to create an interactive learning environment, increase learning motivation, and stimulate students' speech activity. The study examines the potential of blog technology as a useful instrument for improving students' written communication. It has been found that using blogs in the classroom helps students strengthen their writing abilities, sharpen their critical thinking skills, increase their vocabulary and grammar, and engage in autonomous learning activities. It is underlined that the visibility of blog posts and the opportunity to leave comments foster genuine communication and raise students' accountability for the calibre of their own discourse. In the process of developing English-language communicative competence in writing, the instructional potential of contemporary digital platforms and services – specifically, podcasts, TED Talks, Padlet, Facebook, and Canva – is highlighted. It was discovered that using them guarantees the integration of different speech activities and helps students build their intercultural competency, collaborative writing skills, and information culture. The use of digital resources makes it possible to diversify instructional activities, spark students' cognitive curiosity, and set the stage for the adoption of a personally focused approach to teaching foreign languages. It is concluded that incorporating blog technologies and digital platforms into the English language learning process improves the efficacy of the development of written communicative competence and helps students become more independent, creative, and information literate.
