Emergent Standard Model Gauge Symmetries from G₂ Quasi-Crystals: Resolving the Rank Mismatch via Topological Natural Selection
Abstract A foundational obstacle in unifying the Standard Model (SM) with the exceptional Lie group G₂ is the rank mismatch: rank(G₂) = 2 versus rank(SU(3)_c × SU(2)_L × U(1)_Y) = 4. This mathematical incompatibility forbids a direct static algebraic embedding. In this paper, within the Generalized Mass as Twisted Time (G-MaTT) framework, we resolve this impasse by fundamentally abandoning the static embedding paradigm. We propose that the G₂ root lattice is a thermodynamically selected topological phase crystallized via Topological Natural Selection (TNS). We demonstrate that the SU(3)_c × SU(2)_L × U(1)_Y gauge group and its rank-4 structure emerge as effective low-energy infrared phenomena from the topological invariants and braiding statistics (ℬ₃) of the G₂ quasi-crystal projection. Furthermore, we address the absence of unobserved heavy GUT gauge bosons (such as X, Y bosons) by outlining an effective field theory roadmap where gauge coupling unification is governed by boundary topological fluctuations of the mass torsional field M̂_μ rather than static group-breaking cascades.
