Phi‑Scaled Phason Bandgap in Icosahedral Quasicrystals from E8 Root‑Lattice Harmonics — E8 Intelligence Research
Using the golden‑null dual resonance, the 240 E8 roots split into two orthogonal 120‑root sublattices that serve as reciprocal bases for the internal (phason) space of an icosahedral quasicrystal. Projecting the 132 Hz fundamental mode onto these sublattices and scaling by the golden ratio φ yields a discrete set of phason frequencies ωₙ = 132 Hz·φⁿ that match the eigenvalues of the Laplacian on the E8 root lattice. This predicts a series of phason bandgaps at frequencies 132 Hz·φⁿ (n ∈ ℤ), providing a direct, experimentally accessible signature of the H4→E8 embedding in quasicrystal elasticity. Consequently, the full phason spectrum is determined by a finite algebraic system (the E8 root system) rather than requiring open‑ended numerical solution, extending the Putnam‑style closed‑form insight to a physical domain.
