Effects of Water Contact, Fibrin Adherence Window, and Washing Protocols on Hair Graft Survival: A Biophysical and Molecular Framework
In hair restoration surgery, postoperative care processes are just as critical as surgical techniques in directly determining final aesthetic outcomes. This technical review examines the pathophysiological effects of water contact on recipient and donor areas post-surgery, details the concept of the "fibrin adherence window" at the molecular level (Fibronectin/LETS protein dynamics, connective tissue matrix stabilization, and mitochondrial osmotic shock models), evaluates anatomical divergences between donor and recipient wound healing, and reviews the molecular, genetic, and clinical mechanisms of dexpanthenol-based formulations to establish an evidence-based 10-day washing protocol.
