INTERAÇÃO ENTRE ORTODONTISTA E CIRURGIÃO BUCOMAXILOFACIAL NO PREPARO ORTODÔNTICO PRÉ-CIRÚRGICO DE UMA PACIENTE COM MÁ OCLUSÃO CLASSE III DE ANGLE: RELATO DE CASO
Objective: To analyze the contribution of the interaction between the orthodontist and the oral and maxillofacial surgeon to the orthognathic preparation of a patient with an Angle Class III dentofacial deformity. Methods: A descriptive, documentary clinical case report with a qualitative approach. The dental record, clinical photographs, radiographic examinations, and orthodontic follow-up records of a 39-year-old patient were examined. Results: The initial assessment identified a concave facial profile, negative overjet, dental misalignment, and dental compensations. Cephalometric analysis revealed an ANB angle of −3.19°, indicating a maxillomandibular relationship compatible with skeletal Class III. Joint planning established the stages of alignment, leveling, and dental decompensation for presurgical orthodontic preparation. Clinical records documented the progress of orthodontic preparation, while the photographs, radiographic examinations, and cephalometric documentation made it possible to characterize the initial condition and the intraoral appearance at the end of presurgical orthodontic preparation. Conclusion: The interaction between the professionals guided clinical management during the presurgical phase. As orthognathic surgery was not performed during the period analyzed, it was not possible to assess postoperative outcomes or the stability of the surgical correction.
