E8 Weyl Phase Quantization Defines a New Topological Invariant for 4D Bloch Bands — E8 Intelligence Research

Building on the E8 Weyl Return‑Phase Theorem, we consider a walk that traverses a closed Weyl orbit among the 240 root vectors, accumulating the phase factor exp[i(ωt+φ(α·β))] on each step. Because the coupling φ is Weyl‑invariant and the inner product α·β takes only a finite set of values, the total phase after the orbit is constrained to integer multiples of 2π divided by the dual Coxeter number h∨=30 of E8. This quantization yields a new topological invariant — the E8 Chern‑Simons number — that classifies four‑dimensional Bloch bands and predicts gapless surface modes protected by the underlying E8 symmetry. Experimentally, the invariant can be probed by measuring microwave transmission at the 132 Hz base frequency and its harmonics in metamaterials engineered with E8‑symmetric coupling arrays. Abstract
