Potencialización del modelo de posicionamiento en Abastecimiento

Traditional segmentation of procurement categories requires complementary criteria that align purchasing and contracting decisions with organizational management. This article aims to propose a comprehensive extension of the supply positioning model, drawing on the Kraljic matrix and International Trade Centre tools, to strengthen its strategic scope and connection with senior management. A conceptual, proposal-oriented analysis was conducted using literature on purchasing portfolio models and supply chain management, considered alongside professional experience in purchasing and contracting. The resulting framework links procurement quadrants to predefined strategies, workforce competencies, risk-based delegation of authority, and differentiated contractual documents. It also incorporates market assessments, supplier financial evaluations, health, safety, and environmental requirements, incentives, penalties, audits, fraud prevention, and periodic performance reviews. Furthermore, the framework integrates the supplier perception matrix and responsibility allocation through RASCI. The proposed integration provides guidance for approaching procurement as a cross-functional activity connected to risk management and organizational coordination. Its contribution lies in bringing strategic, contractual, and organizational instruments together within a decision-making framework adaptable to different procurement contexts. This integrated perspective may help procurement professionals organize responsibilities and tailor management practices to the characteristics of each procurement category. However, these potential benefits remain propositions rather than demonstrated outcomes. The framework has not been empirically validated; therefore, its practical applicability and effects on organizational performance require further investigation. Future research should assess its implementation and determine the conditions under which the proposed integration supports procurement decisions.
