The Offset Is the Result: I Priced the Assumed Photometric-Redshift Correction Beneath the DESI DR1 HSC S₈, and It Moves the Answer by Nearly Three Quoted Errors

Prices Queue-2 item Q2-24, arXiv:2512.15962 (Lange et al., cosmological constraints from full-scale clustering and galaxy-galaxy lensing with DESI DR1), on its verified abstract claim, the TSI store record, and the full text (v1). The load-bearing assumed step is the HSC photometric-redshift correction: offsets of +0.115 and +0.192 imported from the HSC 3x2pt self-calibration and applied as fixed constants. On the paper's own Sec. IV.2 numbers, removing them moves S8 from 0.793 +/- 0.017 to 0.842 +/- 0.018 (Delta S8 = 0.048 = 2.8 headline errors, at Delta chi2 = 6.6), and the authors' own marginalisation estimate (~0.019 in quadrature, a ~50% larger error, ~0.026) is printed but not applied; both headlines are additionally conditional on all other cosmology fixed to CMB values. Store-record HSC numbers differ from v1 (later-version snapshot) and are flagged in the packet. DERIVED-INDEPENDENT. Quantum gravity NOT SOLVED; vacuum catastrophe NOT SOLVED.
