Enfermedades oportunistas en pacientes con VIH, atendidos en el Hospital Escuela Carlos Roberto Huembes, periodo enero 2018 - diciembre 2023. Managua, Nicaragua

This study analyzes opportunistic diseases present in HIV patients treated at the Carlos Roberto Huembes School Hospital during the period January 2018 to December 2023. An observational descriptive study was conducted with statistical analysis to determine the prevalence and clinical characteristics of associated diseases. Results show that pharyngitis and candidiasis were the most frequent infections, each with a prevalence of 16%. A high concentration of HIV diagnosis was found in the first two years of follow-up, with complications such as cerebral toxoplasmosis and Kaposi's sarcoma. The survival curve indicated lower survival in patients with pharyngitis. These findings highlight the need for preventive strategies and timely clinical management.
