De la consulta al diálogo: inteligencia artificial, conocimiento patrimonial y derechos culturales

The incorporation of artificial intelligence (AI) into the field of cultural heritage offers opportunities to enhance human capacities for research, documentation, interpretation, and communication. This contribution reflects on the interaction between individuals and generative AI systems, suggesting that their use can move beyond the passive retrieval of information towards a process of AI-assisted knowledge construction. Drawing on experience in heritage research and university teaching, it examines the potential of these technologies to connect documentary sources, facilitate access to dispersed information, and increase the visibility of local and regional cultural perspectives. At the same time, it argues that greater access to information does not necessarily guarantee the democratization of knowledge or the plurality of cultural representations. Understanding cultural heritage as a social and historical construction, the contribution highlights the need to recognize the biases that AI systems may reproduce and their potential implications for heritage-making processes. Within this framework, ethics and cultural rights are approached not only as principles for preventing risks but also as guiding considerations for promoting cultural diversity, accessibility, and participation. Finally, the contribution emphasizes the responsibility of heritage institutions and professionals in validating information, fostering critical thinking, and defining objectives that enable these technologies to support human development, heritage preservation, and heritage education.
