A Friend Asked: Essays on Self-as-an-End, Volume II / 有朋友问:SAE随笔集·卷二
A Friend Asked: Essays on Self-as-an-End, Volume II: Living as an End* is a collection of applied-philosophy essays that begins with ordinary questions. This volume contains the general preface and sixty-five essays, arranged in the order in which they were originally written and organized into five parts: “Inner Life,” “Knowledge and Consciousness,” “Education, Freedom, and Relationships,” “Power and Public Life,” and “New Forms of Instrumentalization and Human Resistance.” Volume II brings the Self-as-an-End (SAE) framework into concrete questions concerning death, love, loneliness, education, freedom, consciousness, power, public life, and artificial intelligence. The essays minimize specialist vocabulary and approach philosophy through situations that remain open to general readers. This is a bilingual Zenodo record. The same DOI contains corresponding Chinese- and English-language PDFs. Essay numbers and hidden stable source IDs match across the two editions. The Chinese and English Markdown manuscripts may also be uploaded as source files or retained privately by the author.
