Mitochondrial Observations and Phase-Coherence Framework — An Exploratory Synthesis
Abstract Recent experimental reports have highlighted several intriguing mitochondrial phenomena, including an anomalous mid-infrared spectral feature near 71 THz, differential metabolic responses to hypomagnetic fields, nuclear–mitochondrial DNA insertions (NUMTs), and long-range intercellular mitochondrial transfer. While these observations challenge classical biochemical reductionism, their precise physical interpretations remain under active debate. This note examines these phenomena through the exploratory lens of Phase Torsional Biology (PTB), a framework extending the Generalized Mass as Twisted Time (G-MaTT) series. We propose a qualitative geometric mapping: interpreting mitochondrial cristae as local resonance cavities coupling infrared fields, viewing geomagnetic variations through a background torsional anchoring lens, and exploring inter-tissue communication as macroscopic manifestations of pre-geometric time-braids (ℬ∞). These proposals are offered as organising hypotheses rather than definitive derivations, aiming to bridge cellular biophysics with high-dimensional phase-space geometry.
