Liderazgo escolar en la era de la inteligencia artificial

The integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into school management has grown rapidly since the emergence of generative AI; however, research on its relationship with educational leadership remains fragmented. This integrative review aimed to synthesize recent evidence on the uses of AI in school leadership, the conditions that facilitate or hinder its adoption, and the associated ethical challenges. A literature search was conducted in ERIC, SciELO, Redalyc, Semantic Scholar, Google Scholar, and the websites of major academic publishers, covering articles published between 2019 and 2026 in Spanish and English. Sixteen studies that met the inclusion criteria were selected and analyzed through thematic synthesis. The findings reveal that all selected evidence was published between 2024 and 2026 and that AI is primarily used for administrative tasks, communication, and data analysis, with more limited application in instructional leadership. Transformational and digital leadership emerged as key conditions for AI adoption, while insufficient training, lack of institutional guidelines, and inadequate infrastructure were identified as the main barriers. The review concludes that AI can strengthen school leadership when implemented gradually, ethically, and with human judgment at its core. It also highlights a significant gap in empirical research in Latin America and the Caribbean.
