OGT is a marker of a broad imprinting-associated gene regulatory activity in mice that begins on the X chromosome proximal to Tbx22 and Cdx4.
We used transcriptomics and genomic loci annotation to discover a relationship between a change in expression of the gene encoded at the OGT locus and imprinting-type activity resulting from activation or repression of Xist in somatic cells. Together with our findings; because OGT is among the gene most differentially expressed transcriptome-wide in clonally selected XX and XY human embryonic stem cells along with Xist, and because OGT is among the genes most differentially expressed transcriptome-wide in human cells with synthetic (ecotopic) insertion of an Xist transgene, we demonstrate OGT is a marker of a broad imprinting-associated gene regulatory activity in human and mouse.
