Avanços e Desafios da Educação Oceânica no Brasil: Currículo Azul e Formação de Professores
Ocean Education has gained prominence on sustainability agendas, especially following the United Nations Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development (2021–2030). In this context, Brazil stands out for the development of the Blue Curriculum, an initiative aimed at integrating Ocean Culture into Basic Education. This study analyzes the trajectory of Brazilian Ocean Education, from the Blue School Program to the Blue Curriculum proposal, discussing advances and challenges related to teacher training. For that, a narrative review was carried out, with a qualitative approach, based on official documents, scientific articles, and institutional publications. The results highlight progress in valuing the ocean as an educational focus and in the expansion of initiatives focused on ocean literacy within the school context. However, challenges related to the teacher training, the availability of teaching materials, and curricular integration persist. It is concluded that the consolidation of the Ocean Education requires investments in continuing education, production and provision of educational resources, as well as strengthening coordination among schools, universities, and scientific institutions among schools, universities, and scientific institutions.
