Phytochemical And Gc-Ms Analysis of Sathakuppai Chooranam (Skc) - A Synergistic Multi-Herbal Siddha Formulation

Siddha medicine involves the use of a varied number of Synergistic Multi-Herbal Siddha formulation in treatment and management of various health conditions. To make sure that the quality of these formulations, their safety, and treatment efficacy are fine, the empirical examination of these formulations is needed. Siddha Synergistic Multi-Herbal formulation known as Sathakuppai Chooranam (SKC) has been used to treat disorders like anxiety, insomnia, hallucination, depression and biliary disturbances. The current research was thus directed to research on the phytochemical components, GC-MS profile of Sathakuppai Chooranam (SKC) so that it could become standardized and validated scientifically. The initial phytochemical procedure of the aqueous extract was carried out using conventional pharmacognostic procedures. The analysis showed that Carbohydrates, Flavonoids, Phenolic compounds, Tannins, Terpenoids, Triterpenoids, Diterpenes, Glycosides, Cardiac Glycosides were present in the extract, but the other probable phytochemical compounds, such as Alkaloids, Quinone, Emodins, Steroids were not present in the extract. Following chemical characterization was done through GC-MS analysis. The chromatographic analysis showed eleven compounds, which included thymine, derivatives of benzaldehyde, benzoin methyl ether, (Z)-3-phenylacrylaldehyde, anethole, benzenemethanol derivatives, 3-allyl-6-methoxyphenol, caryophyllene, and phenolic compounds and apiol. The results will provide a rich data on Sathakuppai Chooranam (SKC) chemical composition to comprehensively explain its therapeutic effect and to have a base to undertake new pharmacological and clinical research on the topic.
