Sedang Ki Jenggot: Studi simbolisme kehidupan di desa Tanjungan Mojokerto

Sendang Ki Jenggot is a natural spring site located in Tanjungan Village, Kemlagi Sub-district, Mojokerto Regency, which continues to be preserved and imbued with meaning by the local community. This study aims to understand and analyze the meaning of Sendang Ki Jenggot, the meaning of the figure of Ki Jenggot along with the life values he passed down, and how both are interpreted within the social and cultural life of the Tanjungan Village community. This research employs a qualitative method with a realist ethnographic approach, with data obtained through observation, in-depth interviews with six informants, and documentation, analyzed using Clifford Geertz's interpretive theory and Victor Turner's concept of dominant symbols. The findings show that Sendang Ki Jenggot does not merely function as a water source but also carries historical, spiritual, and health-related meanings, as reflected in its alternate name, Sendang Kewarasan. The figure of Ki Jenggot is regarded as an exemplary role model who passed down values of discipline, independence, and perseverance through spiritual, financial, and social legacies. These values remain alive in cultural practices such as the Dewi Sekar Tanjung Cultural Parade and the 1000 Takir Tradition, which reinforce communal solidarity and identity across generations.
