THE CONCEPTUALIZATION OF EMOTIONS IN LANGUAGE: BASED ON MATERIALS FROM AZERBAIJANI AND ENGLISH
This article examines the conceptualization of emotions in language through a comparative analysis of lexical, semantic, and phraseological materials from Azerbaijani and English. The main objective of the study is to identify the linguistic means through which emotional concepts such as joy, sadness, fear, and anger are expressed in both languages, as well as to explore their metaphorical characteristics and connections with cultural experience. The theoretical framework of the research is based on the conceptual metaphor approach in cognitive linguistics. The comparative analysis demonstrates that experiential domains such as the human body, the heart, heat, movement, and space play an important role in the expression of emotions. At the same time, the same emotional state may be represented through different images, idiomatic expressions, and semantic nuances in different languages. The article examines the similarities and differences between emotional expressions in Azerbaijani and English and explains their significance for translation and foreign language teaching.
