AI & Good Scientific Practice: AI use and disclosure
AI is being used in more and more parts of research: literature search, data processing, code, and writing articles. Where AI can be used keeps changing: having previously ruled it out, the DFG has permitted the use of AI in peer review since April 2026, under a binding guideline that includes an obligation to disclose. For researchers this raises the question: when can I use AI, and above all, what has to be disclosed, where, and in how much detail? This talk addresses these questions and introduces emerging standards for disclosing AI use.
