AMR GeoMapper: client-side geospatial and temporal visualization of user-provided antimicrobial resistance data

Abstract Background Geographic visualization is a key method for monitoring the profile of global antimicrobial resistance (AMR). While current mapping tools are capable, they lack the ability to visualize or compare to user-provided data. To address this gap, we have developed and deployed AMR GeoMapper (AMR-GM) to https://camra.acegid.org/amr-geomapper/ . AMR-GM is a web-based tool that allows for client-side geographic and temporal analysis of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) metadata. Results AMR-GM is a tool that enables users to produce interactive charts and maps of AMR genotypic/phenotypic and bacterial abundance data. Data can be easily formatted for AMR-GM by following the standards specified in the documentation. Additionally, AMR-GM natively loads data downloaded from amr.watch, allowing users to compare their data with publicly available datasets. The source code and documentation for AMR-GM is freely available at https://github.com/JCVenterInstitute/AMR-GeoMapper-Public . Conclusions AMR-GM allows for private analysis of AMR data without reliance on public databases, giving researchers quicker access to high-quality visualizations. Because analysis of unpublished data is possible with AMR-GM, public health officials and researchers will have better software tools for analysis and surveillance of AMR and AMR pathogen spread in a geospatial framework.
