EFEKTIVITAS PEMBERANTASAN KASUS JUDI ONLINE DI DARATAN TIMOR OLEH KEPOLISIAN DAERAH NUSA TENGGARA TIMUR

This study examines the effectiveness of the East Nusa Tenggara Regional Police in eradicating online gambling on the island of Timor, as well as the measures taken to achieve this. An empirical-juridical method was employed, utilizing interviews and literature reviews. The findings indicate the following regarding case handling and the imposition of criminal sentences: 8 cases in 2023, an increase to 11 cases in 2024, and 2 cases recorded up to June 2025. Effectiveness is measured not only by the number of cases but also by the capacity to detect, prevent, and halt online gambling practices. Preventive efforts include cyber patrols, social media monitoring, public outreach, the issuance of warnings, and educational initiatives directed at students. Repressive measures involve investigations, inquiries, and enforcement actions against both online gamblers and those who advertise such activities. These efforts are supported by technology, the competence of police personnel, and coordination with relevant institutions. While the eradication process is carried out continuously through prevention, education, and law enforcement, it still requires active public participation and the further enhancement of police capacity to address digital crimes.
