Systemic Reciprocity-Adaptive Participation Theory (SRAPT): A Proposed State-Transition Framework for Persistent Orientation, Asymmetric Response, and Adaptive Participation
This manuscript proposes the Systemic Reciprocity-Adaptive Participation Theory(SRAPT), a conceptual framework intended to explain how a system's persistent orientationor commitment interacts with responses from other agents or the environment, perceived dis-crepancy, operative constraints, and feedback to shape subsequent participation and systemstates. The framework originates in a primary interpersonal case: a person maintains loveor positive regard while experiencing recurrent asymmetric responses and facing a dilemmainvolving self-respect, relational boundaries, and continued participation. The central distinction is that an enduring orientation does not logically entail unlimited orinvariant participation. SRAPT generalizes this distinction by treating interaction, responseassessment, state configuration, adaptive action, and feedback as a proposed functionalsequence rather than as a proven universal law.The manuscript positions prior constructs the Systemic Reciprocity Principle (SRP),Adaptive Orientation-Participation Dynamics (AOPD), Unconditional Regard-AdaptiveParticipation Dynamics (URAPD), and the Unconditional Regard-Bounded ParticipationPrinciple (URBPP) within a provisional hierarchy, while retaining the Unarticulated Asym-metric Regard-Self-Respect Dilemma (UARSD) as the primary case.A state-space notation, discrepancy function, constrained decision representation, op-erationalization proposals, ten testable hypotheses, falsification criteria, competing-modelcomparisons, cross-domain mapping rules, and a fourteen-step research program are specified. This is a theory-development paper, not an empirical report: no new participant data, simulation outputs, or validation results are claimed. The framework's novelty, predictiveadvantage, measurement validity, and cross-domain scope remain open empirical questions.
