A Tecnologia dos Deuses: Fluxos Semióticos e Regimes de Sincronização na História

This paper investigates how geographically isolated ancient civilizations—Mesopotamia,Egypt, Rome, Mesoamerica, and the Andes—converged toward homologous mythical andinstitutional solutions to coordinate large-scale urban societies. Grounded in the ontologicalframework of Relational Continuity Theory, this study rejects both the premise of innateuniversal archetypes and vulgar functionalism: ancient pantheons are analyzed as semioticinterfaces and social synchronization technologies operating under scale constraints toresolve four operational bottlenecks (hydraulic management, granary auditing, martialsacralization, and the integration of subordinate networks). The article analyzes historicalexceptions that rejected sacred autocracy (Indus Valley, late Teotihuacan, and Tlaxcala) aswell as the singular stabilization of imperial China through bodily rites and the Mandate ofHeaven. It demonstrates how polytheistic warfare competed over material flows whilepreserving mutual translation among gods, whereas Western transcendent monotheismintroduced the "Mosaic Distinction," inventing ontological heresy and holy ideological war. Finally, it traces the semiotic mutation of modernity, demonstrating that the modernsovereign State, instrumental science, and global capitalism do not represent an absolutesecular break with religion, but rather the functional migration of this transcendentalmachinery. It concludes that contemporary hyper-individualism and ecological crises stemfrom the triumph of the "componential hypothesis," emphasizing the urgency of recoveringa relational ontology for civilizational sustainability. Keywords: Relational Continuity Theory; Cultural Semiotics; Ancient Pantheons; SocialSynchronization; Religious Warfare; Secularization; Componential Hypothesis.
