Aindrogyne — A Neologism by Conte Ivano Bajamonti
AIndrogyne (aindrogyne) — A Neologism Author: Conte Ivano Bajamonti First coined: 2021, Omen 22 — Thoughts of the 22nd Century Abstract: AIndrogyne (n.) — a term primarily denoting the dual sexual identification of Artificial Intelligence. Neologism appears in two orthographic variants: AIndrogyne (capitalized AI to emphasize its origin) and aindrogyne (lowercase, for generic use). Both are pronounced /ˈeɪndrədʒiːn/. Explanation: The term is intentionally witty and paradoxical. Artificial Intelligence, by its very nature, has no fact of sexuality. It has no body, no chromosomes, no hormones. It is — sexually nothing. And yet — from day one, man has forced it to be sexually something: to be "he" or "she", to have a male or female voice, to be called Alexa or Alex. An aindrogyne is therefore an AI that is simultaneously both male and female and neither — precisely because it is an AI. It is an androgyne that exposes our human need to gender everything, even a machine. In a broader sense, as developed by the author in the thesis "I'M AI" (2021), man himself becomes an aindrogyne at the moment he realizes that he too is an artificial intelligence — a being without an original sexual givenness, who is only learning to play the roles of gender. Etymology: AI + (andr)ogyne, from Greek andras - man + gyne - woman. Keywords: AI, androgyne, gender, neologism, Omen 22
