RANCANG BANGUN KOMPOR HIDROGEN DENGAN PENGATURAN ARUS, TEMPERATUR DAN KEBOCORAN GAS

The demand for environmentally friendly energy sources continues to increase due to the depletion of fossil fuel reserves and the rising level of environmental pollution. Hydrogen is considered one of the most promising alternative energy sources because it produces extremely low emissions and has a high calorific value. This study aimed to design and develop a hydrogen stove with current and temperature control equipped with an Arduino-based gas leakage safety sensor. The research employed an experimental method, including system design, assembly, programming, and performance testing. Hydrogen was produced through the water electrolysis process using stainless steel 316L electrodes and a potassium hydroxide (KOH) electrolyte solution. The results showed that the system was successfully developed and was capable of producing a stable hydrogen flame. The MQ-8 sensor detected hydrogen gas concentrations of 20 ppm, 80 ppm, 174 ppm, 384 ppm, and 455 ppm during normal operation, reaching 800 ppm during a simulated gas leakage, indicating that the safety system effectively identified hazardous conditions. The DHT22 sensor recorded an increase in temperature from 30.1°C before operation to 32.5°C during operation, while the relative humidity remained stable within the range of 61.4–61.8%. These findings demonstrate that the developed hydrogen stove operates effectively, safely, and has the potential to serve as an environmentally friendly alternative to LPG for laboratory-scale applications
