ECOMESH REMOTELINK EDITION: A SECURE ENCRYPTED VPN-INTEGRATED WIDE-AREA NETWORK GATEWAY ARCHITECTURE FOR REMOTE HOME INTERNET ACCESS

ECOMESH REMOTELINK EDITION: A SECURE ENCRYPTED VPN-INTEGRATED WIDE-AREA NETWORK GATEWAY ARCHITECTURE FOR REMOTE HOME INTERNET ACCESS Abstract While traditional mesh networking focuses exclusively on localized indoor range extension, modern mobile connectivity demands seamless, zero-trust access to domestic local area networks (LAN) from arbitrary external locations. This research paper introduces EcoMesh RemoteLink Edition, an advanced hardware-software gateway architecture that integrates an embedded Virtual Private Network (VPN) routing engine and automated Dynamic DNS (DDNS) resolution directly into a low-power perimeter edge node. By establishing a secure, bi-directional encrypted tunnel between external client devices and the domestic router, RemoteLink enables high-security wide-area connectivity without compromising domestic firewall integrity. This document details the architectural specifications, cryptographic tunneling protocols, visual schematics, power management frameworks, and reference implementation firmware.1. Introduction & Problem StatementStandard residential Internet routers secure domestic local area networks behind Network Address Translation (NAT) and stateful firewalls. When users travel outside their residential premises, direct access to home-based servers, network-attached storage (NAS), or secure domestic internet breakout is obstructed.Existing software VPN solutions suffer from severe operational limitations:1. Complex Configuration Overhead: Users must manually configure complex port forwarding rules, exposing home networks to external cyber-attacks.2. Always-On Server Dependency: Traditional setups require maintaining a dedicated desktop computer or server running continuously at home, consuming high electrical power.3. Lack of Edge Integration: Existing extenders lack dedicated hardware cryptographic accelerators and outdoor weatherproofing required for perimeter deployment. The EcoMesh RemoteLink Edition solves this by providing a dedicated, plug-and-play edge hardware gateway that maintains an automated, energy-efficient secure cryptographic tunnel tothe home network.
