The Volitional Brake: Macro-Awareness and the Graceful Exit from Cosmic Inflation

Paper 96 does not claim that the physical universe inflates by writing laws, that its expansion has been derived from general relativity, or that the early universe was governed by a monitor. It shows, in one reproducible Metropolis experiment on a degree-regular graph, that a runaway law has no gradient exit (∂F/∂Λ = −n, so retiring it costs the whole volume), that an out-of-objective measurement is sufficient to perform the exit, and what the exit costs if it is late. Concretely: a universe with no emergency law is trapped (a = 1.000, T = 1.000, zero injections); a universe with an emergency law and no monitor inflates at exactly H = ρ/3 (0.5002 measured, 0.5000 predicted) until its bond occupancy falls through the percolation threshold φz = 1 at t = 2.300 (predicted 2.240), leaving a giant component of zero; a universe that measures its temperature and brakes at the derived T_brake = T₀(q\*/q₀)^{1/3} = 0.4642 stops at t = 1.600 (predicted 1.535) with φz = 1.67 and 68% of its structure, and then continues at H = 0.00990 against r/3 = 0.01000 with w = −1.003. The two critical numbers are T_crit = T₀ z^{−1/[κ(1−γ/H)]} = 0.3263, below which nothing can be saved, and ρ_c = 3γ = 0.300, below which nothing can be torn. The rip here is topological, not phantom: H is constant and what breaks is the bond network at φz = 1. Inflation is a control loop, and the brake is the half of it that requires volition.
