Obesity is a major public-health concern and is frequently associated with metabolic abnormalities, particularly dyslipidaemia. Globally, approximately 16% of adults were living with obesity in 2022. The present study evaluated and compared the efficacy of Dashanga Guggulu and Navaka Guggulu in Sthaulya with special reference to hyperlipidaemia. An open-label, randomized comparative clinical study was conducted among 50 subjects aged 18–60 years. Subjects were allocated into two groups of 25 each; 5 subjects from each group did not complete the study, and 40 subjects were included in the final analysis. Group A received Dashanga Guggulu and Group B received Navaka Guggulu, 1000mg twice daily after food with lukewarm water for 40 days. Assessment included subjective symptoms, anthropometric parameters and lipid profile. Both groups showed statistically significant improvement in the assessed parameters. Mean body weight decreased from 78.70 to 73.80kg in Group A and from 77.20 to 71.70kg in Group B. Total cholesterol decreased from 277.50 to 213.60mg/dL and from 279.50 to 211.10mg/dL, respectively. Overall improvement was 55.07% in Group A and 63.61% in Group B. Navaka Guggulu demonstrated a comparatively better overall therapeutic response.
