"Digital Transformation in Indian Banking: A Case study of Indian Bank"
This case study examines the digital transformation journey of Indian Bank, highlighting how a century-old public sector institution transitioned from conventional branch-centric operations to technology-driven banking. The report explores critical modernization milestones, including the implementation of 100% Core Banking Solutions (CBS) and strategic flagships like Project WAVE (World of Advanced Virtual Experience) and the IndSMART mobile platform. It provides an analytical overview of process shifts across account opening, paperless lending, digital payments (UPI, NEFT, IMPS), and customer support. Drawing on key metrics from FY 2024–25—such as a ₹1.67 lakh crore digital business volume, 95% digital savings account openings, and 92% digital transaction share—the document evaluates the tangible advantages in operational efficiency alongside structural challenges involving cybersecurity, infrastructure costs, technical uptime, and rural digital literacy.
