Baetis alpinus

Baetis alpinus (Pictet, 1843) TAXO-2022. Given both the high genotypic variability and the potential for cryptic species within B. alpinus (Leys et al. 2016), we sequenced individuals from Estaragne. Our molecular data (PP 387901 to PP 387904) placed B. alpinus from Estaragne very similar to the Pyrenean haplotypes (Finn et al. 2013) but differs from the alpine haplotypes. However, these observations need to be confirmed with supplementary material. TAXO-70’s. We recommend not using (or with caution) the data concerning B. alpinus from the 70 ’ s Estaragne study (Lavandier 1979, 1982 b, 1988) as new species from the same group were described after 1979 (Thomas and Gazagnes 1983; Thomas 1986) and observed in the catchment in 2022. The individuals designated as B. alpinus in the 70 ’ s could therefore belong to different species. DIFF. We therefore decided to change B. alpinus from the 70 ’ s to Baetis spp., without being able to distinguish the species group.
