Biotype‐Specific Regulation of Wheat Mono‐ and Diterpenoid Defences by Diuraphis noxia
Summary Statement While avirulent Russian wheat aphids trigger defensive mono‐ and diterpenoid production in resistant ( Dn7 ) wheat, these downstream terpenoids are suppressed by a virulent biotype despite inducing upstream jasmonic acid (JA) biosynthesis. Concurrently, DnDCXR is upregulated in the virulent aphid, which we propose acts as a metabolic effector that scavenges in planta JA to disarm host defences.
