Evaluation of a Dye-Sensitized Solar Cell [DSSC] device based on Agaricus bisporus extract

This study evaluates the photoelectrochemical performance of natural extracts from Agaricus bisporus [Portobello variety] as photosensitizers in dye-sensitized solar cells [DSSCs]. Photoanodes were prepared with mesoporous TiO2, and activated carbon counter electrodes were catalytic thermally activated. Photoelectric characterization under natural solar irradiance [930 W/m] demonstrated efficient charge injection promoted by DOPA-melanin chromophores. Prototypes achieved a maximum open-circuit voltage [Voc] of 34.2 mV, a fill factor [FF] of 0.454, and a overall power conversion efficiency [η] of 0.0374%. These results confirm the stability and technical feasibility of crude fungal biomass for sustainable optoelectronic devices, setting an experimental baseline for non-purified bio-sensitizers.
