Epeorus undetermined Eaton 1881

Epeorus spp. Eaton, 1881 TAXO-2022. The genus Epeorus was only captured at the larval stage at the downstream site D and complementary site CO in 2022. The individuals collected are morphologically similar to Epeorus assimilis Eaton, 1885 and Epeorus torrentium Eaton, 1881, two species that cannot be reliably distinguished at larval stage (Berthélemy and Thomas 1967). Furthermore, our molecular data (PP 387911 and PP 387912) do not match with the E. assimilis sequences. Consequently, our specimens correspond to either a known species not referenced in molecular databases yet, such as E. torrentium, or an undescribed species. We therefore designate our specimens as Epeorus spp.
