Physical and mechanical properties of metallic cellular structures with "Gyroid" geometry

The use of selective laser melting for the manufacture of metal cells with the geometry of a triply periodic minimal surface ‘gyroid’ are discussed. The samples were made of 12Kh18N10T stainless steel. To study the effect of wall thickness on the physical and mechanical properties of materials with a triply periodic minimal surface geometry, a series of samples with dimensions of 30 × 30 × 30 mm3, with wall thicknesses ranging from 0.1 to 0.8 mm and an elementary cell size of 10 × 10 × 10 mm3. During the study, the specific energy absorption of the developed volumetric product obtained using additive technologies was evaluated. It was shown that the products have high strength and energy absorption characteristics necessary for use in many industries, and can also be used in protective structures.
