Estimations of the Vaporization Enthalpies of a Series of Licit and Illicit Drugs by Synthetic Analysis and Group Additivity
Abstract Vaporization enthalpies of a total of fifteen licit and illicit drugs are evaluated by a combination of synthetic analysis and group additivity. These include: elemicin, mescaline, myristicin, cocaine, amphetamine, methamphetamine, N-ethylamphetamine, 3,4-methylene-dioxymethamphetamine (MDMA), 5-methoxy-3,4-methylenedioxy-methamphetamine (MMDMA), N,N-dimethyltryptamine, psilocin, bufotenine, 5-methoxybufotenine, serotonin, and melatonin. All estimates lack refinements with regards to stereochemistry and potential chirality but most values evaluated by synthetic analysis with the exception of derivatives of N,N-dimethyltryptamine, include structural refinements with regards to regiochemistry. Agreement between results evaluated by synthetic analysis and group additivity is quite good with an average absolute difference of 0.9 kJ⋅mol − 1 and a standard deviation of ± 1.5 kJ⋅mol − 1 between the two estimates. The results are compared to experimental or estimated values from the literature when available. ORCID: 0000-0002-8385-1665 E-Mail: [email protected]
